Yes to weight sensor, I have some already that I want to use for acid dosing and salt dosing the pool, was going to experiment with them rather than the ultrasonic for how much is left. Although I heard they drift over time… if the load is constant….

  2. Frédéric Legrain says:

I really see no point making devices for such stupid uses as we know each device we make or buy cost energy, carbon emissions and waste…

This is the push I needed to buy the Meater block. You should put Amazon links for Amazon.de as well, considering that it’s used by Europeans who pay in Euro such as myself.

I use a Wyze Cam V2 plugged into a small portable battery pack pointed at a cheap wired temp prob for long smoking cooks (10 hours plus). This is $50 and allows me to monitor the temps of the meat and smoker remotely with my Wyze app on my phone. I have been using this for well over a year without trouble.

I was thinking of doing the EXACT same thing for my brine tank to figure out the salt level for my water softener, and for my Acid dispenser for my pool (both have no way to tell the level without opening the tank outside my house). If you could share the build tips that would be great!

Love this video, I’ve been considering the Meater probes and you confirmed I should get them. As for the bottle weights, PLEASE make a video. I’ve got two bottles, one for my grill and one for my fire table, would be great to be able to monitor them both.

  7. Catsrules1 says:

Yep, definitely would be interested in the DIY weight sensor.

Thanks for the recommendation on the thermometer.

  8. Robert Brummett says:

Couple of ideas for BBQ gadgets. Grill/smoker temp monitor (not the meat, the grill). Pellet level monitor for pellet smokers. I’ve jotted notes on making both, but haven’t got around to either yet.

  9. Nathan Faught says:

Concur with the MEATER. I got the single probe for Christmas last year, and recently bought the block. I use it every time I cook meat now. BEWARE- don’t leave the probes in if you’re searing your meat over high flames in the grill. I broke one of the probes doing this. MEATER was gracious enough to offer a one time replacement, even though they caution against doing this in their tutorials/in the app.

I don’t need to add this comment, but will. Rob, we want a video of your bbq scale build. Super useful, and not just for the bbq!

I thought this was a BBQ ! Use charcoal no use with running out of gas 🙂
